Bill Davies

Artistic Director
bill@blunderbus.co.uk

Bill trained at Rose Bruford College in London, graduating in 1997. He went on to founder Blunderbus in 1998, and as Artistic Director for the company, has adapted and directed nearly 70 professional productions, including his own versions of Animal Farm, The Tempest, Pinocchio, The Wind in the Willows, Charlotte's Web, Treasure Island, and most recently, The Railway Children. For the past 10 years, Bill has collaborated with composer, Frank Goodhind, with Frank's music featuring in every Blunderbus production.

Bill enjoys writing and directing for children and family audiences, with some of his past successes including Pumpkin Soup, The Firebird, The Rainbow Fish, Grandpa Joe's Magic Show, The Dragon's Daughter, and of course, the hugely successful, Elmer the Elephant, which has to date played to over 250,000 children nationally. In 2009, Bill was delighted that his new adaptation of the best-selling book, Giraffes Can't Dance, played to sell-out audiences and travelled halfway across the world, to be performed in Malaysia. Bill is also very excited that his new story for children, The Dragon's Daughter, is being published as a children's book in mid-2010.

Bill has directed many shows in theatres across the UK; Christmas 2009 was a busy time, with his new adaptation of Pinocchio appearing at The Waterman's Theatre, London, Giraffes Can't Dance being presented at Trestle Arts base, St Albans, The Dragon's Daughter and The Rainbow Fish touring to schools and theatres across the UK, and The Railway Children playing at The Brook Theatre, Kent.

Bill is also an experienced and accomplished performer and puppeteer, having appeared in many shows for children. He has also been involved in school, youth theatre and community projects for the past 20 years, and as a qualified and experienced drama teacher, he has written, directed and produced a host of shows ranging from large-scale musicals with a cast of over 100 to small-scale studio plays with just 2 performers.
